Ren 96 Open 2019

Dumfries ASC took a team of 23 swimmers to the Ren’96 Open swimming championships that were held at Linwood on the 2nd and 3rd of November. It has a reputation as one of the biggest Scottish junior swimming events which attracts over 450 entrants including a lot of the top swimmers from the City of Glasgow club. In the face of such fierce competition the Dumfries swimmers acquitted themselves well.

Notable individual performances included

Cameron Allison winning 400 freestyle silver

Lexi Anderson winning gold in 100 back, silver in 100 free, 200 back bronze

Ava Simpson winning 100 back gold, silver in 200 breast and 200 back

Thanks go to head coach Anthony Ryan who commented ‘A great weekend all round for the Dumfries swimmers. Lots of strong performances, personal bests and well executed race plans on show from all the swimmers. Once again the swimmers have displayed what a credit they are to themselves and the club’

Thanks also go to Chris Kelly, Faye Dickie and Steph Rogerson for team management duties.
