On 21st September 2019, for the second year in a row Dumfries Amateur Swimming Club were invited to enter a junior team age 16 years and under to participate in the Scottish Team Championships on the back of the Scottish National Age Group Championship.
This is an amazing achievement as it is only the top ten clubs throughout Scotland that get invited.
DASC we're sitting in 9th place going into the event against some of the top clubs in Scotland.
They swam as a team and won points for every place that they came in. At the end of the day DASC finished in 10th place swimming together and encouraging each other as a team.
The team got back to DGOne at 17.30 and 41 swimmers travelled down to Sheffield on a coach together, to take part in the annual teaspoon competition. This is a popular meet amongst our swimmers as it is a 1 day sprint event and lots of fun. For some of the younger athletes this was a first time away.
DASC won 10 medals (teaspoons) in total. 4 golds were won by Finlay Nelson in all his 50m races.
3 silver's all won by Reuben Kelly in his 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly and Aimee Harkness took home a bronze in her 50m backstroke,
Ryan McHardy won a bronze in his 50m backstroke and Austin Sinclair gained a bronze for his 50m breaststroke.
The Dumfries team qualified into 24 final swims throughout the day. This was an amazing effort by everyone.
