Success for Dumfries ASC at the Scottish Summer Meet


From 11th-14th July, swimmers from Dumfries ASC represented the region at the Royal Commonwealth Pool, A total of 18 young swimmers made the journey to Edinburgh to compete at a national level.

8 out of the 18 swimmers placed in either 1st, 2nd or 3rd position, with the remaining swimmers achieving personal bests – a fantastic achievement for Dumfries ASC.

Cameron medalled at gold level in the boys 100 metre breast with a time of 1.09.96. Eliott Sinclair also achieved 1st place and received a gold medal in the boys 200 fly with a time of 2.16.92.

A number of swimmers achieved 2nd place and received silver medals across a number of events. Cameron Allison achieved 2nd place in the boys 200 breast with a time of 2.33.75,

Gemma MacLeod won silver in the girls 50 freestyle with a time of 28.47.

Bryce Procter came second and was awarded with a silver medal in the boys 50 fly with a time of 27.60.

Eliott Sinclair medalled again in the boys 200 fly with a time of 2.18.48 and secured a silver medal.

Aimee Harkness secured 2nd place in all of her events winning silver.Aimee took home silver in the 50 metre back, 200 back and 100 back. She secured a personal best in all 5 races swam.

Ava Simpson, Liam Eccleston & Owen McBurnie added to the medal tally with bronze medals.

Owen McBurnie, Captain for Dumfries ASC added, 'There was a good team atmosphere. Everyone had some good swims, good PB's and were happy with the results. Overall, it was a great success for the team. It was a good way to finish the season with the club and we're all looking forward to the forthcoming 2019/2020 season'.

The swimmers who took part in this meet have been a credit to the club, ending another successful season for Dumfries ASC. A big thank you must go to the coach for this meet and to the team manager for helping to support the swimmers, not forgetting the continued support of parents.
