Sunderland New Year Meet 2019

Seventeen swimmers from Dumfries Amateur swimming club travelled as a team South of the border to compete at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre in their annual New Year Meet.

This competition attracts swimmers from Scotland, England and Ireland. It is by far one of the favourite meets amongst the Dumfries swimmers and it is also the first long course meet of the season, where the swimmers try to achieve qualification times to compete at the up and coming Scottish National events.

Everyone swam well and there were personal best times and medals across a range of events over the weekend. Twenty nine medals in total: 2 gold, 14 Silver and 13 bronze. What an achievement!

Coach Ross McCafferty was delighted with the swimmers, they worked as a team throughout the whole weekend and put in some very fast times, especially at the start of the long course season.
