The end of April was marked by Dumfries Amateur Swim club’s home meet. This was held at The Matt Busby Centre in Bellshill as ongoing repairs continue at DG One.
This was a great opportunity for some of the clubs youngest swimmers to get the chance to compete and set some benchmark personal best times.
A full house of athletes from all round Scotland provided a friendly, competitive atmosphere with team spirit through the roof.
Dumfries demonstrated a high level of skill and sportsmanship amassing a tremendous amount of medals. Coaches Ailsa Neilson and Phil Stewart said ‘This was a great well run meet with Dumfries swimmers rising to the challenge of competing against a wide variety of clubs. We were delighted they picked up lots of medals and set up some very good personal bests’.
Huge thanks goes to Kathleen Procter for organising this fantastic event. Thanks to all coaches and Team Managers Marc Scott and Steph Rogerson and to the army of parent volunteers.
Finally thanks must also go to the local families and businesses who sponsored specific events:
Ros White, Hamilton Gymnastics, Harkness plumbing Ltd, Gail and John Haugh, Bryce Procter, Mark and Yvonne Watret, Jim and Catherine McSeveney, Forbes Emmerson - The Locksmiths, Complete Insurance and Born to Rock Design.
The Season draws to a close at the end of this month. An exciting new season ahead.
