Last month a team of young intermediate swimmers from Dumfries Amateur Swim club travelled to The Onx Leisure Centre in Paisley to compete in The Ren 96 Graded Meet.
This meet is always a good platform for swimmers to practice technique and race strategy. It is also a friendly meet and a favourite for parents as the cafe facilities are second to none!
Despite the temperature on poolside being oppressive, swimmers rose to the challenge and gained a significant number of personal best times.
The team amassed a total of 25 medals between them. Medal winners were Lexi Anderson, Tyler Barnard, Ben Copeland, Finlay Johnstone, Rueben Kelly and Luke Scott. Davie Houston took gold in 50 free, Lindsay Cameron and Tyler Barnard were awarded speeding tickets – this means their times were too fast for this level of meet. Team spirit was evident throughout, however swimmers also demonstrated a highly competitive edge when racing their own teammates!
Well done to all. Fantastic achievements.
Thanks as always to Coach Ailsa Nelson and Team Managers Susan Copeland and Marc Scott.
