The West District Junior Age Group Championships were held at Cumbernauld on the 12th and 13th of November. Dumfries Amateur Swim Club was one of them.
13 swimmers from DASC qualified to compete at this event. The results were phenomenal. Pb’s all round and a total of 26 medals.
Lauren Anderson from Stranraer scooped a staggering 5 golds and 2 silver to herself. Another young swimmer Cameron Gordon achieved gold in both 100 and 200 fly. He also broke the Scottish Age Group Record for 100fly. He certainly was flying!
The team of youngsters were a credit to their club and demonstrated their determination, team spirit and sportsmanship through their race technique, support and congratulations to those around them.
They did in fact finish second overall as a team. What a fantastic accomplishment for themselves and the club. Well done to all.
Coach Phil Stewart said ‘The performance of the swimmers is down to the hard work and effort they put in at squad sessions. To have this many personal bests is fantastic. It is said that success breeds success. If so then we are in line for a superb second half of the season. I can’t wait!’
Thanks should go to Phil, Head Coach Anthony Ryan,Team Manager Sharon McBurnie and the band of parent supporters.
