During the October break a small group of swimmers from Dumfries Amateur Swimming Club headed up to The Peak at Stirling for The Alloa Graded Meet.
The venue was packed with both competitors and spectators. The competition was fast and exciting. Team spirit was evident throughout the event as swimmers cheered on their team mates, egging them on to the finish!
Despite being a small team at this particular meet they certainly made an impact. Alex Scott brought home a speeding ticket (this means he swam faster than the consideration times of the meet - a fantastic achievement) 2 silver medals and a bronze. Whilst his younger brother Luke enjoyed a spot on the podium with a silver medal…..beating his brother by 2 hundredths of a second in the 50m backstroke! Brilliant swim!
Aimee Harkness flew in from her Mexican holiday the day before the meet and did herself proud achieving a whopping 6 pb’s Brilliant.
Coach Ailsa Nelson said ‘We had 8 swimmers at this meet who amassed a total of 25 pb’s which is a great result so early on in the season’.
Well done to all our swimmers and thanks of course to Coach Ailsa and Team Manager Marc Scott for supporting the youngsters for the weekend. Thanks should also go to parents who travelled to support their swimmer.
Training continues for DASC’s upcoming home meet to be held at Bellshill at the end of November.
