Last month 28 young swimmers from Dumfries Amateur Swim Club(DASC) travelled to Auchenharvie to compete in The North Ayrshire Development Meet.
Although the pool itself has a small spectating area supporters filled every available space and the atmosphere was positive and exciting!
This event was one of the opening meets of the season for our swimmers and the results speak for themselves. The team amassed a staggering 59 medals - 28 gold ,14 silver and 17 bronze between them. In addition to this DASC collected a total of 24 speeding tickets. A speeding ticket signifies a swimmer has swum too fast-this is indeed seen as a greater accolade than a gold medal!
Fantastic effort from all with an abundance of pb’s to take forward into the next competition. The team were a credit to their club and should be congratulated for their achievements.
Thanks should go to the coaches (Anthony Ryan and Ailsa Nelson) and Team Managers (Susan Copeland, Tanya Harkness and Mark Scott) for their guidance,
support and encouragement throughout the weekend.
