Last month saw 24 swimmers from Dumfries ASC. attend the Scottish National Age Group swimming competition held at Tollcross International Swimming Centre. The competition takes place over 5 days.
Over 1000 of the best age group swimmers attended representing over 90 clubs from across the U.K.
This was a first national event for some of our swimmers and provided an opportunity to win a national medal or to make a final and score points for their club in the Top Team Competition.
This was a phenomenal year for the club with finals and medals galore.
Dumfries ASC placed 10th overall which is worth noting that only the cities and composites beat them, composites being more than 3 or more clubs uniting as one and they qualified for the Scottish Team Championships in September.
We had 2 Scottish champions, Ava Simpson in her 50m backstroke. She also made 4 finals, and Cameron Gordon in his 100m butterfly, Cameron then went on to secure a Scottish record in his 50m butterfly, he also made 3 finals.
Austin Sinclair - 2 finals,
Elliot Sinclair -5 finals and 2 silver medals in his 200m butterfly and 100m butterfly.
Reuben Kelly - 5 finals,
Owen McBurnie - 5 finals and a silver medal in his 50m backstroke.
Gemma McLeod -1 final
Bryce Procter - 2 finals and a silver medal in his 100m butterfly.

Niamh Green made 4 finals,
Cameron Allison made finals in all 7 of his events and achieved silver medals in his 50m breaststroke and 200m freestyle and bronze in his 100m breaststroke and 200 I.M.

A big thank you must go out to our very generous sponsors Fiona Diggle, John Henderson's & Sons - J.H.S. law and B.D.S. the tops and Hoodies looked amazing on our athletes.
The team managers for the team where Kathleen Procter and Peter McBurnie who gave up their time to help ensure that the athletes were looked after, nourished, rested and ready to perform.
Head coach Anthony Ryan and assistant coach Ross McCafferty where delighted with the overall performances of all the swimmers and praised their attitude and commitment throughout.
